Outlander Blood of My Blood Season 2 Episode Count and Schedule Guide

I’ve been counting down to this since the Season 1 cliffhanger. So when Starz finally dropped the date, I circled September 18, 2026 on the calendar and haven’t looked away from the screen since.

Today is October 16, which means Episode 5 lands tonight. Here’s everything you need to plan your Fridays: how many episodes there are, when they drop, what time, and where to stream them. I’ve added a few opinions along the way, because I can’t help it.

How Many Episodes Does Season 2 Have?

Ten. Season 1 ran eight episodes, so we get two more hours to spend with two couples who are still being pulled apart by forces much bigger than they are. In a streaming era of shrinking seasons, ten episodes of prestige period drama feels almost generous.

The extra room matters because this show juggles a lot. You have the Jacobite rebellion bubbling up in 1715 Scotland, plus a 20th-century couple trying to survive the aftermath of the First World War and the strange pull of the stones. Eight episodes of that would have felt cramped. Ten gives it room to breathe.

When and What Time Do New Episodes Air?

The season premiered on Friday, September 18, 2026, with one new episode a week through the end of November.

For US viewers, there are two ways to watch:

  • Starz app and streaming platforms: episodes unlock at 12:00 AM ET on Friday. That’s 9:00 PM PT on Thursday for the West Coast, so you can beat the spoilers by a full night.
  • Linear Starz channel: the episode airs Friday at 8:00 PM.

My advice is to stream at midnight if you can stay up. Outlander fandom moves fast, and by Friday morning someone online has already posted the scene you were hoping to see fresh.

One thing to watch: the gap between Episode 8 and Episode 9 suggests a skip week on November 13. Outlets also don’t agree on every date, and at least one listing shows a different finale date. Check the Starz app for the final word as we get closer.

What Season 2 Is Actually About

Season 1 ended with one of those cliffhangers that makes you stare at the credits. Season 2 picks up right at that moment, and the early footage showed a distraught Julia alone with her baby. That image alone told me this season wouldn’t go easy on anyone.

The premise is built on a painful shift. In Season 1, the characters chose each other. Now every clan has to pick a side in the rebellion, and love collides with loyalty. For Ellen and Brian, that means family names, clan politics and a war that doesn’t care how much they want each other. For Julia and Henry, the stakes are time itself and the safety of a little girl who, as we all know, will one day grow into Claire.

That’s the real hook of this prequel. We know where the story ends up, and watching it get there is what hurts. Every happy moment comes with a shadow behind it.

I’m deliberately not spoiling individual episodes. The titles alone are enough to make me nervous, especially “Forgive Me, Father” and “Another Man’s Shadow.” Fans who know the books will be reading those names with a very particular dread.

The Cast Carrying This Thing

A prequel lives or dies on whether the new faces feel like real ancestors of the characters we love. This one gets it right.

1715 Scotland

  • Harriet Slater as Ellen MacKenzie, sharp, stubborn and never just a love interest
  • Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser, the father of the man we all fell for
  • Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, bringing real weight to the Highland politics
  • Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie and Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, names that will make longtime fans sit up straight
  • Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan, two more familiar faces in younger form

The 20th century

  • Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp
  • Hermione Corfield as Julia Moriston Beauchamp

Slater and Roy are the heartbeat of the show for me. Their chemistry has the kind of lived-in tension that makes you lean toward the screen. And watching Colum, Dougal and Murtagh appear in this earlier world is a treat for anyone who has spent years with the main series.

Where to Watch Outside the US

  • United States: Starz, via app, streaming platforms or the linear channel.
  • United Kingdom: MGM+. The UK premiere was Saturday, September 19, so episodes arrive a day later than the US.
  • Australia: the original rundown pointed to Stan, but check your local listings. Availability changes, and I’d rather you confirm than hit a paywall mid-binge.

Why This Season Feels Different

Here’s my take as someone who’s followed this universe for a long time.

The main Outlander series has now wrapped, and that leaves a strange, tender gap in the fandom. Blood of My Blood fills it by doing something the flagship couldn’t: it lets us see where the Frasers and the Beauchamps came from. That gives the whole franchise a second layer of meaning. Every scene with Brian and Ellen adds weight to Jamie, and every scene with Julia and Henry deepens Claire.

It also helps that Season 2 isn’t trying to be Season 1 again. The focus has moved from “will they find each other?” to “can they hold on once the world demands something from them?” That’s a harder story to tell, and a more interesting one.

There’s no word yet on a third season, so I’m treating these ten episodes like a limited run. I’d rather savor them slowly than worry about what comes after.

Will There Be Outlander Blood of My Blood Season 3? Renewal Status, Predictions, and Fan Theories

Tips for Following Along Without Losing Your Mind

  1. Stream at midnight ET if you want to stay ahead of spoilers.
  2. Rewatch the Season 1 finale before tonight. It makes the new episodes hit harder.
  3. Keep the schedule table above bookmarked so you know when the skip week lands.
  4. Mute Outlander tags on social media until you’ve watched, because the fandom does not wait.

Tonight’s Episode 5 puts us right at the midpoint, and I’m already bracing for it. Whoever wrote “Forgive Me, Father” as a title knew exactly what they were doing to us. Grab your snacks, clear your Friday night, and let’s see who breaks first.
